Is there any way to script this so that it will pull the host name from
the computer as well as a preset username and password so that it can
update it with out user intervention.

I am trying to make this as seamless to the end user as possible

You need to manually register the new machine at the gnudip server (this
gives you the host name [which is the same as the user name] and
password).  When you install the client software and tell it which
server, client host name, and password to use, the IP registration will
happen automagically.

IIRC, there is nothing in the protocol that would allow for an automated
registration kind of behavior.  One could presumably do this by scraping
the web interface, but that's not a newbie kind of operation.
