Is there any way to script this so that it will pull the host name from the computer as well as a preset username and password so that it can update it with out user intervention.
I am trying to make this as seamless to the end user as possible Magnus -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of Devin Reade Sent: Tuesday, December 31, 2002 12:21 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [GnuDIP] Auto add of host name and ip address You need to manually register the new machine at the gnudip server (this gives you the host name [which is the same as the user name] and password). When you install the client software and tell it which server, client host name, and password to use, the IP registration will happen automagically. IIRC, there is nothing in the protocol that would allow for an automated registration kind of behavior. One could presumably do this by scraping the web interface, but that's not a newbie kind of operation. -- Devin Reade <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf -- GnuDIP Mailing List http://gnudip2.sourceforge.net/gnudip-www/#mailinglist ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf -- GnuDIP Mailing List http://gnudip2.sourceforge.net/gnudip-www/#mailinglist
