Uhm, like, you deleted ~/.gnumed but still tell GNUmed to
use ~/.gnumed/gnumed.conf ? That seems odd enough.

(but it then tries to keep starting up - this is fixed in
the next release)

doesn't work.

IOW, don't tell GNUmed to use a config file which doesn't
exist. Yes, the next version will handle this more
gracefully. But at least it tells you about it in the log
file.
