Uhm what I mainly wonder is,... what is the main difference between
those two? Ok CMS support but that's not a difference between the shared
codebase, is it?
So in my opinion there are only rare cases where it's justified to have
different continuing branches (which are actually like forks). One
example is perhaps flex and flex-old..
