You may want to read up on the history of PGP to learn that PGP 1 was an
attempt on encryption for masses but used an easy to crack algorithm.
You probably meant PGP 2.x which can be replaced by GnuPG 1.4 after
setting some options - but this is only intended to decrypt data once
encrypted with PGP 2 and not for encrypting or signing data today.
