This isn't GnuPG-related, but it *is* Free Software and about digital security education. Following long-standing custom here we get a little leeway to go off-topic.
A friend of mine contributes to online security by training journalists, human rights workers, political organizers, and more in effective digital security. A couple of weeks ago he lamented to me the moment he tries to teach people how to use hash algorithms to verify downloads, half the people get scared because they're unaccustomed to working with terminals and they're afraid of breaking things. On the GUI front things are also pretty bad. There are ways built into each OS to do hashes, but it usually involves right-clicks, large context menus, and other such. His students need something simpler. So, what the heck: I put together a tool that met his needs. QuickerHash is a crossplatform tool that aims for a pleasant-looking UI that's laser-focused on digital security education and being a specialized tool for nontechnical users. The UI is provided by FlatLAF, so it should look and feel pretty much like JetBrains' IDEs (which use their own customized fork of FlatLAF). https://github.com/rjhansen/quickerhash/releases will get you the 1.0.
