Hi All,

Up and running! :) Congratulations and thanks to all who made this possible!

I know, it is alpha 1 only (plus ran all updates and extra synaptic packages), so I just ask around to understand what's up.

1. keyboard layout support for gnome would be great, it is very difficult to
type anything with US only. I can't find more layouts in keyboard config neither any realted package.

Feature request... Can you enter it into http://www.gnusolaris.org/Bugs

2. I can't start Apache2. I think it just does not start, but no message comes to the log. Both access.log and error.log are 0 bytes. /etc/init.d/apache2 start displays nothing, apache2ctl start displays:

Syntax error on line 1 of /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/php5.load: Cannot load /usr/lib/apache2/modules/libphp5.so into server: ld.so.1: apache2: fatal: libm.so.2: open failed: No such file or directory

Seems like the old libm related. We thought we cleaned 'em all. See for instance
http://www.gnusolaris.org/cgi-bin/trac.cgi/ticket/112

Also deserves a bug..

(The mentioned php file is there, sunwlibm is installed.)

Of course I cannot access http://localhost/ or telnet 80 to it.

3. Mysql can login only as root. Even if I created user for myself. Root can
log in and see the 'mysql' and 'test' databases, when tryin with 'lion' (who
has 'all privileges on *.* to [EMAIL PROTECTED]') I get:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ mysql -p Enter password: ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect
to
local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (13)

Actually:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/var/log/apache2 # ls -l /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock
srwxrwxrwx
 1 mysql mysql 0 Jan 11 01:01 /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock

Hmm.. We'll try it with Alpha 2.

4. and last, when starting Synaptic or other tool which requires root password, the tool does not start. If I start it from console, su -, I get the usual no display error. If I add xhost +localhost as my user, and export
DISPLAY=localhost:0 as root, I can start the mentioned tools.

Not root. Use your own password. You'll need to enter it only once.

Any ideas would be appreciated. And congratulations again for the great results! It was very easy to install, following the online docs and the system was just up and running immediately. Including many important programs, like this Thunderbird. (For IRC I installed ChatZilla extension into Firefox.)

Thanks in advance, Ferenc

ps: let me know if I shouldn't do this deep testing in this early stage :-)

Absolutely not. Meaning, absolutely yes! please! do continue! testing it and
using it!

:)

By the way, early or not early stage but it runs our server with the entire
development environment on it for more than two montsh now, with zero downtime.
