I get the feeling that some of the people complaining about Solaris not being under the GPL are simply using the licensing as an excuse. I don't think the licensing is as big of an obstacle as they make it out to be.
Personally, I'm also a bit annoyed by the GPL worshipers. The CDDL is better because it is short sweet and to the point -- it's also OSI approved. As long as a license is OSI approved, I don't see what all the fuss is about. Why must the GPL be the gold standard in all matters? Unfortunately, blind fanaticism and faith tend to trump reason. All of the above notwithstanding, I still wouldn't mind to see Solaris dual licensed. I think it would be an interesting experiment -- it would show us if the license is the real issue or not. For some in the Linux community, I think the real issue is that Solaris is not Linux -- it's not their baby. _______________________________________________ gnusol-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.sonic.net/mailman/listinfo/gnusol-users
