Hi, As long as you have a boot partition, or that the /grub stage1/1.5/2 is on a filesystem that is supported by grub, and have the kernel and boot archive available there too, you should be able to 'embed' grub into the the mbr on that drive or the active boot partition.
Under linux, if /dev/md0 is a mirror between two primary active partitions on seperate drives grub can be embeded into /dev/md0 and it installs to both locations. This works as the linux software raid implementation stores its metadata at the back end of the 'partition'. There may be similar options uder solaris; I dont know enough about the file systems and device presentation under (open)solaris.
