Hello,

I downloaded and installed the build of groff-1.18 from
gnuwin32.sourceforge.net. Following the instructions, I tried to set
things up so that my MinGW/MSYS life ;-) could be enhanced by the
ability to read manpages. However it isn't working and the sound of the
error message I am getting is that something is wrong with the build.

The error message is:

  groff.exe:fatal error: open stdout: No such file or directory

Here's what I tried to do:

  $ groff -mandoc -Tascii man1/gcc.1

where man1/gcc.1 is a real existing man page file.

I am using MSYS bash on WindowsNT4. My system environment looks like this:

     OSTYPE="msys"
     PAGER="/bin/less"
     PATH="

I have also tried "groff -man -Tascii man1/gcc.1 | less" and get the same
result.

Kees?

I am attaching a touched-up version of the Groff announcement HTML WWW
document for Kees Zeelenberg to review (essentially the changes improve
readability, Kees) and for other readers to refer to, to get a quick
background on what I am asking about.

   Thanks,
     Soren A
