You are obviously committed to your research and serious about it and this is impressive. As you know, I grew up speaking Portuguese and later learned English. I thought English was harder than Portuguese. You may want to take a course on Portuguese and master it. The important thing is to learn the vocabulary. The rules for Portuguese are straight forward and there are very few exceptions. I returned from a visit to a Lisbon archive with nearly 1000 pages copied. My reading of Portuguese is functional but not advanced. So of those I will need at least 700 pages translated. If you know of any Portuguese translator please do ask
