| Dear Selma, I would have helped you but unfortunately have been struggling with a back pain that comes and goes, being investigated. This made me reduce my activities to a minimum. You are obviously committed to your research and serious about it and this is impressive. As you know, I grew up speaking Portuguese and later learned English. I thought English was harder than Portuguese. You may want to take a course on Portuguese and master it. The important thing is to learn the vocabulary. The rules for Portuguese are straight forward and there are very few exceptions. Assunto: Re: [GRN] Lisbon archive Portuguese translator Your help needed
Dear Selma, send me five (5) pages to begin with. If I can read them easily, I'll help translate more. Thanks for taking on this wonderful project!
Warmest regards,
Victor

Dear members,
I returned from a visit to a Lisbon archive with nearly 1000 pages copied. My reading of Portuguese is functional but not advanced. So of those I will need at least 700 pages translated. If you know of any Portuguese translator please do ask
them to email me at [email protected] Must be willing to work at a very reasonable per page rate.
Other than that, if anyone here can translate a page of two, please do also email me. Even if I can get a 100 of the pages translated free of cost, it will be a huge relief for me. These are documents spanning back to 1800s but both the writing
and the scanned pages are not too difficult to decipher.
Many, many thanks and I look forward to many people offering to help with this important project of a lung of Goan history entirely undocumented, and without any secondary sources, except for a few books I myself have written on it. Even if you
can commit to just one page, it will help a lot, but if you can commit to 3-4 pages, that would be great.
Take care,
Selma
