While in Goa, dictatorship and colonialism, simultaneously, were in force, in Puducherry (Pondicherry) despite the colonial policy,Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité were practiced, thus since 1954, the government ofIndia had made it clear that the cultural and other rights of the people wouldbe fully respected.Then, France jumped from Puducherry to Goa. Since 2007, Alliance Française, Panaji (AFP), in Altinho, next to MenezesPolyclinic, has been fostering intercultural dialogue and amicable relations betweenFrance and Goa.
ThierryMathou, the Ambassador of France in India recently paid a visit to the AllianceFrançaise Panaji. It was his first official visit to Goa. French President Emmanuel Macron will visit India'scapital New Delhi on January 26 for India's Republic Day, and would be welcomedas "chief guest".
