MUSEU DO ORIENTE | FOTO ARTE GANESH | GOA, FOTOGRAFIA E MEMÓRIA | GOA,
PHOTOGRAPHY AND MEMORY
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SR_eILRfZM

This exhibition showcases the extensive collection of the Goan photographer
Krishna Navelkar, known by his adopted name, Ganesh. His attentive and
passionate gaze captured nearly forty years of history spanning from the
end of Portuguese colonialism to the profound social and political
transformations that shaped modern Goa. Each photograph is more than just
an image; it acts as is a living testament and an echo of the past that
resonates in the present, challenging forgetfulness. From bustling streets
to silent gazes, from vibrant celebrations to political changes, Ganesh's
work is an invaluable archive that preserves fragments of a history that
might have been irretrievably lost without him. Ganesh was not just a
photographer; he was a chronicler of time, a lens that crossed decades to
immortalise Goa, transforming fleeting moments into eternity. In this
exhibition, we employ various mediums to reveal the Goa envisioned by
Ganesh, whose social and religious diversity is unique, both in written and
visual records. This tribute not only celebrates his contributions but also
honors Goa and the Goans who have shaped its narrative over the years.
