Fabian was the type of model student that the teacher would not fault. After studying in Don Bosco's he shifted to St Xavier's College, for the higher secondary. We were part of the Commerce-and-Economics-with-Maths class. You took that option if you were either a bit of a masochist or a semi-studious type. The reason was that that Maths taught was bizarre... specially from a non-Science students' point of view.
One day, in class, we all burst into laughter when a teacher asked Fabian whether he was from the Seminary. (The Saligao Seminar had a nearby residence, and would send its students to SXC. They were all typically quiet, shy, often the specs-wearing types! Fabian was mistaken for one...) When Fabian joined the police force, we found it hard to believe. That's life... Later on Fabian, while still in his early thirties, found he had cancer. As a father of three young children, he fought a valiant battle. He could not eat solids, and lost a lot of weight. All seemed to be going well till a few weeks back. Pain in the lungs took him to a doctor, where he was told that the cancer could have possibly spread. Now in his late thirties, he's fighting a determined battle. All he's asking for is your prayers... and I guess a few words of encouragement would help.
