I've never tried this out (no opportunity/reason to), but ICICI Bank says
that their Money2India is the "fastest and easiest way of sending money to
India".

It's a wire transfer facility with a web interface, that enables
non-residents to send money to India "in the fastest possible time". Money
can be sent in USD, Euro, GBP or AED. 

"This service is free for an NRI remitting money to his own ICICI Bank
account or if the beneficiary in India has an ICICI Bank account. The
money will reach you in one working day from the time the ICICI Bank
receives the money," promises the bank.

As mentioned, one has not tried this out. I do have an ICICI bank account,
and find services nice (24-hour withdrawals through ATMs at Panjim,
Porovorim, Mapusa... easy remittances to others with same-bank accounts,
regardless of which city they're in etc).

To be honest, one did not opt for ICICI. To avoid standing in long queues
to pay telephone bills, I had to open an account at Madura Bank in Panjim
(the only bank accepting phone bills, then, without a queue). It was a
small and homely bank. Along the way, it got takenover by ICICI... and
that's how one became an account-holder there. FN
