Association for protection of environment formed

'Vanarai Sahayog' an association to look after and protect the interest of Goa
in the field of environment was formed recently under the president of
freedom fighter N B Rao.
The meeting was chaired by the Dr Jiblo Gaonkar who addressed the gathering
and explained his experience that he had when he visited countries abroad.
The environment concerning Goa in coming fifty years and its fate were
discussed
at length in the meeting.
The meeting felt that everyone should give top priority to the environment
considering the damage caused to the ecology of Goa in the recent years
due to illegal deforestation and other activities and non-seriousness of NGOs
& other government machines.
The release says that the association shall take every step to see that all
measures required for a forestation as well as improvement in agriculture
and bringing new areas to store water. The advisor of the association,
Adv Babuso Gaonkar former MLA explained its importance.
The constitution of committee member's are as follows: N B Rao, President;
Dr Jiblo Gaonkar, Vasudeo Bhobe, Vice President; Sanjay Gaonkar,
Vice President; Shailesh Rao, Mahabaleshwar Kamat Dhakankar,
General Secretary; Vincent Fernandes, Joint Secretary; Adv Babuso Gaonkar,
Treasurer; and members Arvind Bodke, Shankar Satoskar,
Dronacharya Kenawdekar, Manju P S L Desai, J D Patil,
Ranjana Salgaonkar.
