�CGFNS Academy to place Goan nurses In USA� Training Program to begin from March onwards

�As nursing approach the 21st century, preparations must be made for meeting anf facing the challenges, changes and forces that will confront the health care industry and nursing profession. The CGFNS Academy in Goa aims to arm Goan nurses with the provisions to meet these challenges,� says Sherin Mathews, Head of CGFNS Academy which is being set up in Goa next month.
The CGFNS Academy is being set-up as an exclusive center in Goa providing CGFNS (Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools) coaching for nurses aspiring to make a career in USA. The Academy will be conducting regular 45-day long intensive training programs especially designed for CGFNS aspirants. This training program would prepare them for the CGFNS Examination. �Passing the CGFNS Examination is mandatory for nurses to work in USA. However, answering this exam requires a thorough understanding of the nursing standards and practises presently prevalent in the United States. This is where our training program helps as it is completely based on CGFNS curriculum,� promises Sherin.
The 45-day intensive preparation program of the CGFNS Academy is an interdisciplinary introduction to the concepts, methods and practices of CGFNS Examination and Nursing studies covering nursing syllabus in four major fields - Psychiatric Nursing, Pediatric Nursing, Maternity Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing. �Each candidate would be given individual attention to facilitate the learning process.�

The CGFNS Academy would be retaining prime focus in assessment of the candidate�s general awareness of various Nursing subjects while educating them on How to study for CGFNS Qualifying Exam and the NCLEX-RN Examination. As Sherin elucidates, �We have designed the course to familiarise our candidates with strategies involved in answering CGFNS & NCLEX-RN Examination, while developing their understanding of the CGFNS Qualifying Examination through interactive sessions & lectures and thereafter, familiarizing candidates with the ways nursing is practiced in the United States
The Academy has larger plans for those candidates who would be successfully clearing the CGFNS Exam. �Our aim is not only to train candidates in CGFNS but to place the successful ones in USA for a long and winning career in nursing,� promises Sherin, �We are tying up with US based firms to facilitate appropriate placement of our candidates.�
The CGFNS Academy to be based near Panjim city will start its first batch on March 1, 2003. A counseling session for interested candidates will be conducted in mid-February. The selection to the training program will be done through a personal interview. �Our selection procedure is ingenious to the requirements of CGFNS,� explains Sherin.
