Vasco Gets Ready For A Grand Carnival Celebrations.
The Vasco Carnival Committee under the Chairmanship of Mormugao MLA, Shri Giovanni Karl Vaz has drawn up a colourful and exciting programme for the four days of Carnival celebrations from 1st to 4th March in the Port Town of Vasco. On the first day of Carnival i.e. 1st March, the Naval Band will set the tone for the celebrations at 5.00 PM in the evening, the performance of the Naval Band will be followed by a Non-stop Show 'Bovall' by Playwright John D'Silva. On Sunday 2nd March, Exhibition Football matches have been organised in the morning session at the Tilak Maidan, Vasco. The Married Ladies v/s the Spinsters of Vasco will set the ball rolling at 8.30 AM in the morning, while Carmel College Girls will take on the might of Holy Rosary College, Navelim, soon thereafter. The morning session will end with a Men's Football exhibition match between the Bachelors of Vasco v/s. the Married Men. In the evening, there will be a Fancy Dress Competition at 5.00 PM in three categories, Kids, Juniors, and Seniors followed by a Boogie Woogie Dance Competition. The day will end with Magician Edmundo taking the stage at 7.30 PM. Attractive Cash Prizes have been offered for the various competitions during the Carnival Celebrations and the organisers are expecting a good response from the Vasco citizens.
Monday 3rd March, will see the Grand King Momo Float Parade beginning at 4.00 PM in the evening near the Thakker House, and wending its way along the Swatanthra Path, MMC Square and culminating on the F.L. Gomes Road. A Grand Konkani Musical Show 'Viva Carnival' amidst spectacular Fireworks display will follow the Float Parade. The last day of Carnival celebrations will see 'bye-bye' Carnival a Beat Show with Goa's Top Bands in attendance together with Fireworks display. All the events will be held at the specially erected mammoth stage at the Municipal Square, Vasco.
