I have been to Macao. I would attribute Macao's success to two things 1 its proximity to Hong Kong and the fact that it is a Gamblers paradise. 2 the attitude of the industrious Chinese. Hong Kong is much more successful we can attribute its success to the British only partly. There a lot of ex colonies of Britain in Africa which are simply languishing. May I also add that it has taken India some 6 decades to come out in its own right.
