And that RFRS - Vengurla cultivate specimens of over 150 cultivars and hybrids? Botanical Society of Goa found the time ripe to show - case fruits of the region, F. L. Gomes Garden, Campal from 9th to 11th May, 2003, along with like minded people and agencies. DISPLAY The true test of believing is seeing. Varieties and varieties of king of the fruits - the mango from Devgad Alphonso to Badami and Malcured will dominate with their royal presence in the courtyard of display. Nevertheless, other seasonal fruits like cashew, pineapple, rose apple, jack, jamun, carissa (Karvanda), banana, chickoo (sapota), bhirand and other fruits will prove their credibility. Besides, display of fruit products will carry the fruit essence over the seasons. COMPETITIONS The best fruit need be crowned. Right! But, lets be fair. The competition is open for all the fruits, and prizes will be awarded in each variety of fruit. Fruits from the same tree, two large ripe fruits, a set of six medium fruits or twenty smaller fruits will make each entry for the competition, to be judged for its external appearance and internal qualities. Various other competitions like fruit eating, fruit carving, etc will make one and all merry and gay. SEMINARS & WORKSHOPS Hurray! Mango trees can now yield fruits every year in quality and quantity No magic. Scientists, Horticulturists and all the experts will share their valuable research through the big LCD screen, the progress and state of art methodology of fruit cultivation and pest control, and post harvesting technologies. Anybody for organic farming? Or having a question not answered? Farmers interaction with experts will make long days short. RESOURCE BOOK Progressive farmers can now sigh in relief. Your search for latest research and field observation along with market information will come to an end with the release of such a book at the fest.
