HOLY FAMILY CHOIR ORGANIZED LITANY IN KUWAIT. Kyrie eleison. Kyrie eleison. Christe eleison. Christe eleison. Kyrie eleison. Kyrie eleison...... On Saturday, 31st May 2003, being "The Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary" there was a procession from the Church to the Grotto of our Lady of Lourdes after the 6:30 p.m. mass. As the procession reached the Grotto, the Holy Rosary and Litany (in Latin) organized by Holy Family Choir, commenced. This Holy Rosary & Litany was organized in reverence to the devotion of Mother Mary. The Holy Rosary was in English & Litany in Latin. The Bishop of Kuwait, His Lordship Francis Micallef started the proceedings and then gave his blessings in the final prayer. His Lordship needs to be applauded for his overwhelming support in organizing such a great event. Lets Pray to God to give His Lordship good health and a long life so that such events on a larger scale will be organized in the near future. Chants of the litany echoed in the Church compound......... Christe, audi nos. Christe, exaudi nos. Pater de caelis Deus, miserere nobis. Fili redemptor mundi Deus, miserere nobis. Spiritus Sancte Deus, miserere nobis. Sancta Trinitas unus Deus, miserere nobis. Rarely we see such a multitude of devotees attending and participating in the Holy Rosary & Litany. Being a working day, the devotees had put in an extra effort and sacrifice to join in the Ladainha. The major credit for organizing such a wonderful and nostalgic event surely goes to the entire Holy Family Choir members, headed by Mario Fernandes, who arranged the hymns and the litany musically well. The recitation of the Holy Rosary was done by Ms. Janet Franco Fernandes along with the beautiful PowerPoint presentation (first time ever for such a occasion) by Ms. Gina Pontis which enabled the entire congregation to join in Praying and Singing praises to Our Lady. As the Litany progressed, echoes of the timeless verses, going thus: Sancta Maria, ora pro nobis. Sancta Dei Genitrix, ora pro nobis. Sancta Virgo virginum, ora pro nobis. Mater Christi, ora pro nobis. Mater divinae gratiae, ora pro nobis. Mater purissima, ora pro nobis......... The musical part was very well played by Francis Almeida (Shahu) on the Keyboards, Mario Fernandes on the Semi-Acoustic Guitar and Maestro Francis Marchado on the Violin, who displayed his exorbitant talent in playing the Litany to the delight of the devotees: Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi: Parce nobis, Domine. Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi: Exaudi nos, Domine. Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi: Miserere nobis. The participation of the entire gathering of the faithful that rendered their voices in unison - singing the hymns and the Litany added significance to the whole solemn scenario: Ora pro nobis, sancta Dei Genetrix, Ut digni efficiamur promissionibus Christi. Oremus. And with this the Latiny ended with everyone seemingly pleased with their rendition. Keeping up with true traditional values back home in Goa, Boiled Grams (Ukkodlole Chonnem) - specially packed in plastic zipper bags - along with juice packets (courtesy: Holy Family Choir) were distributed to all. By being a part of such religious activities, the Holy Family Choir is trying their level best to spread joy and happiness and in a way unite the people for the betterment of society and our community. Pray for us, Most Holy Mother of God, That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. ------------------------------------- Links: http://www.catholic-church.org/kuwait/ http://www.goa-world.com/Ladainha/.......for the Latin hymns and translations. ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
