The flashing introduction of the new family took place today - with the
showing of an Elvis Presley dressed man opening the door to the neighbours.
The neighbours were all invited to a house warming party. The story line it
seems is taking us to a Christian Goan family - omnivores, the Eastenders
are sure in for a surprise. The guests had made sandwiches out of ham and
cured beef but left them at the pub as they were not sure whether the new
tenants were Muslims (no pork) or Hindus (no beef). What message are the
producers trying to convey to a sizeable Indian population who watch the
East Enders ? subterfuge is being employed and in a short time the younger
Indians irrespective of religious beliefs will be living it up like
Christian Goans. Should we Christian Goans be happy to be portrayed in this
light? We can thank the cheap charter flights to Goa for this.

In one stroke 20 million Brits will know about Christian Goans, although we
comprise just 20 percent of the polulation of Goa. I await with bated breath
for the next installment !

Cheers
