I agree with Tim Demello's views about the ongoing water problem in Goa. I was just thinking, Has anyone thought of a " Water Desalination" project ? And if we had it would it solve the problems of water scarcity permanently.
I would like to hear some views. I work for a Power Generation and Water Desalination Company in the UAE and our power plant has been built by a very well known company in the U.S. I wonder if our Goa Government has ever thought of something like this. This must be treated with a certain amount of urgency. Goa must not be allowed to drift from year to year struggling with its water problem - and blaming the hotel industry for its ails. It is a shame that in a place like Goa that is blessed with so much rain in the months of June/July/August that this is not being harvested adequately to serve the population through the dry spells of April and May. The citizens will do what they can - like those in Saligao. But the Government needs to take a lead here. As Fred has said, the Govt. needs to FOCUS on this issue. Goa has sufficient human resources to be able to deal with this problem. We just need the will. And, Oh! Yes! VIVA GOA!!!
