On behalf of the Social Committe I would like to extend my thanks for your help in our cause towards charity to my Alma Mater, St. Anthony's High School, by giving us the exposure on the Internet.
The 9th Monte de Guirim Annual Social, Toronto Chapter, held on Sunday, the 9th of June, in Mississauga, was a great success. We had door prizes, novelty prizes, raffle prizes, prizes for seniors, and prizes for children. The food menu was Indian style and included authentic Goan sorpotel. The band "New Illusions" played well. We had a DJs Daryl and Allen too with music for Young Adults. Our very own and talented singer, Dahlia, sang a few numbers with the band including one in Konkani "Mollbailo Dou". Among the other songs she sang including Rose Garden (Loretta Lynn) and Crazy (Patsy Cline). We started at 12 noon and wound up at 7 pm. Most people were from the Greater Toronto Area. We had about 260 people in total in a beautifully decorated hall. Everyone had a very enjoyable day. Our highlight this year was bookmark mementos which were distributed to our guests as they entered the hall by young volunteer children. This memento has a picture of St. Anthony and a prayer. We also had our customary annual souvenir booklet with prayers, hymns and advertisements from our well-wishers, donors, sponsors and benefactors. We had a special dance presentation, performed by a group of our very own and talented Young Adults, and was choreographed by Dahlia. The items we had planned for the days programme almost fell in place and on time. All committee members (ex-students) had different tasks that they undertook and performed with great enthusiasm and dedication, tact and ability, with full support from their wives, children and other family members. Their assignments included various necessary and important chores like checking tickets at the entrance, showing guests to their tables, helping and coordinating with various games for seniors, young adults and children, selling bar and soft drinks coupons, serving at the bar, etc. Our Photo Album will be uploaded on the net shortly by our very own site moderator. Mr. Auggie Pereira, the first President and founding member, was sworn in for his 2nd tenure as President for the Year 2003-2004 - which is the Tenth Anniversary of the establishment of Ex-Students Association - St. Anthony's High School - Monte de Guirim - TORONTO CHAPTER. We were all kept very busy since 3 months before the show. It called for a lot of work. The Social Committee, myself, and our families did it whole-heartedly for our great Alma Mater. And of course, with your prayers and good wishes we did finally get there. St. Anthony stood by us and guided us through a very successful and happy get-together. Yours sincerely Tony Fernandes President 2003 Ex-Students Association Toronto Chapter ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
