Tearful adieu to noted tiatrist NT News Service
Margao, June 16: The mortal remains of the noted Konkani stage comedian, Luis Dias, were laid to rest at the Raia cemetery, in the presence of large crowd of mourning people, who had come to pay their last tributes to the artiste. Luis met with death in tragic circumstances on Saturday at Mumbai, just few hours before he was to board the flight to Muscat. The news about his untimely death was received with utter disbelief at his native village of Arlem, Raia, as well as by the Konkani tiatr lovers all over Goa. On reaching Mumbai, Luis Dias (35), who was on his way to Muscat, had phoned his wife, Pramila, in Goa, informing her about his safe journey to Mumbai. He also had told her that he would get in touch with her just before boarding the flight to Muscat. That proved to be his last conversation with his wife. The incident occurred when Luis, who was staying with his relatives, the place being close to the Santa Cruz Airport, was asked to join the litany in the neighbourhood. The balcony in the neighbourhood, where Luis, who had joined the litany, was standing with four others, suddenly came crashing down, according to Mr Santos Dias, brother of Luis. Luis, who fell down from a height of about 4.5 meters found himself under the balcony debris, thus getting severely injured. Three others, including a pregnant lady, were saved by the skin of the teeth. Luis used to earn his daily living working in Muscat for last 8 years and had gone to Mumbai to board the flight to Muscat, after enjoying a vacation with his five brothers in Goa for the first time. Luis who was admitted to the nearby hospital at Santa Cruz was later declared dead. For the first time, we all five brothers had met here in Goa for a vacation. May be the Almighty had planned it that way before separating us from him, sobs Mr Santos Dias. With all this, the plans of Luis have vanished in thin air. He was thinking of staging a new tiatr in Muscat, he adds. We have lost a young talented singer and comedian. The void that has been created would not be easy to be filled, said Prince Jacob, who was present at Luis house at Arlem. Jacob also revealed that though Luis was working in Muscat, he was instrumental in staging many tiatrs there ===== http://www.goa-world.net/poems http://www.goa-world.net/poems/lino __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
