NEW KONKANI CASSETTE RELEASED IN KUWAIT.

On 13th of this month during the show of Rafael de Majorda at Hawally Auditorium, well known Konkani Stage Artiste Marcus Vaz released his first Konkani Audio Casstte GOINCHI GIRESTKAI at the hands of his sister-in-law Martha Vaz - wife of his brother Benny.

This cassette consisted of 12 songs; lyrics for same were composed by Marcus Vaz only. In one song trio somplole tiatrits - his father Master Vaz lends his still youthful voice. It was very astonishing to listen to Master Vazs voice, which is still strong and attractive. Master Vaz once was the close companion of late legendary Minguel Rod and as a tiatrist he has helped Konkani stage very much. According to elders Master Vaz had unique distinction to act on Konkani Stage at a very early age, hence the name Master.

The other songs of this cassette are title song Goimchi Guirestkai by Marcus Vaz in which he praises the greatness of Goa but laments the tragic circumstances Goa is undergoing due to non-Goan influence; Tukam Toxem Maka, Porot Chollom Aum and a trio Sexy Singer with Antonette de Calangute and Janet. To make a special mention of this trio, such a trio I never heard before and precisely because of its high quality of composing and singing on the stage during early nineties especially in Rosary Ferns Tiatro Mojem Dusrem Ghor it was well accepted by the audience, not only in Goa but also in Bombay and Gulf. Remaining songs are duets Desh Moji Maim by Bony and Antonette de Calangute, Besaum & Happens in India by Jr. Rod and Felcy; solos of Jr. Rod Zuzam Dhorm by Xavier Gomes & Doth Hath Paem by Felcy.

Maestro Josinho Desouza provided the musical score for this cassette.

According to Marcus Vas since long time he had great wish to introduce his father in his cassette but finally he said he was happy that his wish came to reality as both father & son sang together. As pe my information for releasing this cassette Marcus Vaz received tremendous co-operation from both his brothers who are working in Kuwait.

In order to produce a cassette lot of expenses are incurred, definitely Marcus Vaz must have also spent lot of money. By producing such cassettes Konkani is enriched and promoted. Hence, it is imperative for every Konkani lover to purchase such cassettes directly from the producer and help him to cover up the expenses. By purchasing the cassettes directly from the producer the money spent by Goan will remain into the hands of Konkani promoter Goans only otherwise the profit of such cassettes will go into the hands of non-Goan/non-Konkani businessmen who will make money at the cost of Goans/Konkani promoters.

While concluding I congratulate Marcus Vaz for producing his first Konkani Album and wish him all the success and hope he will produce more of such Konkani Cassettes thereby helping promotion of Konkani.

A. Veronica Fernandes,
Kuwait.
