But, as (IMO at least) it is of the feminine gender, the correct way to speak and write should be "tuje familik". But, if we use one of the "niz" Konkani terms for "famil", and bearing in mind that one belongs to the neuter gender and the other to the masculine gender, it would be appropriate to say "tujea kuttumbak" (neuter) or "tujea ghorabeak" (masculine). Note however that "famil" is also listed in the recently published dictionaries (2-vol. Konkani-English by Suresh Borkar, Mukesh Thali and Damodar Ghanekar and one-vol. English-Konkani by Prakash Thali, edited by Damodar Ghanekar).
Jorge --- I didn't see the above message too in my mailbox. Not sure what's happening. Jorge is right. I erred in putting "a" after "tuje". I have said in an earlier post and I say it again that I am not a Konkani writer. I used to read all Konkani papers published from Bombay, and often sat in conversations with those with great knowledge of the language, especially editors of the Konkani papers and writers who contributed to them. One of them was my uncle, Felix Valois Rodrigues, a journalist who also wrote in English and Portuguese. "Kuttumbak" and "ghorabeak" are now standard use in literary Konkani. The Konkani-language papers rarely use "famil" or "familik". Unfortunately, I don't have access to Konkani papers, and I am not sure of Ixtt is on the net.
