----------------------------------------------------------------------- Documented by Goa Desc Documentation Service & circulated by Goa Civic & Consumer Action Network (GOA CAN)<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Ph:2252660 ----------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------- Bicholim doctor nabbed on charges of rape -------------------------------------------------------------- In a shocking incident, a 52-year-old medical practitioner from Housing Board colony in Bicholim has been arrested by Mapusa police on charges of raping his patient and her teenaged maid at Guirim.
Describing the case, Mapusa police said the accused, Dr Vilas Naik, had been treating his patient at her residence since 1998. Police said Dr Naik would inject the victim with some drug, which would make her unconscious and would allegedly have intercourse with the victim.
Sometime between December 2002 and mid-January this year, the doctor also allegedly raped the victim's 15-year-old maid from Bijapur-Karnataka on four occasions.
The maid claimed she was tortured by the doctor, but remained silent as the doctor had allegedly threatened her with dire consequences, if she were to report the matter. The maid however became unwell due to the torture and on persistent enquiries, reportedly disclosed to her employer about the rape.
The employer then got in touch with her brother-in-law and informed him that both of them had been raped by the doctor.The brother-in-law advised them to file police complaints and on Monday night, the employer and the maid lodged separate complaints against the doctor.
Acting on the complaints, Mapusa police arrested the doctor at his residence in Bicholim. Both victims were later sent for a medical checkup at Goa Medical College Hospital at Bambolim.
The accused has been arrested under Sections 376, 342 and 502 IPC for offences on the maid and under Sections 376, 328 and 506 IPC for offences on the patient.
