Formation of Film society in Goa:
Response: I am gland Jose in his article talks of forming a film society - and "we" is the people and not the government. I hope Ervell and the others give him their full support in action more than in words. In fact none of this talk would have even started if the concept of Film Festival in Goa had not been floated by Delhi. This is a start of a film culture in Goa. Do we know how many jobs a film festival and other projects at the IFFI center would create? Does any one know how many jobs in Goa are directly or indirectly related to the tourism industry? Regards, GL Jose Lourenco writes: Ervell Menezes, whose film-reviews appear in the local press has said that organising expensive international film festivals in Goa is premature, partly as Goa has no serious film culture in the first place. I agree. We must get down to forming a good film society in Goa. I'm sure some buffs in Goa would be interested in going forward. IFIs aside, we are losing out by not experiencing the master film-makers. If anyone is game, do get in touch. ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
