COMMENTS: By: Floriano Lobo, goasuraj A commendable concern, that, Jonathan Nagata. Goans, specifically Goan politicians, need to first realise what will be the consequences of losing the Secular Fabric of Goa. They have been clamouring for the carrots of office and petty political mindedness as usual, for the larger import of the above to dawn on them. The happenings in Gujarat seem to be far and distantly away from Goa. The bravado is "No, it cannot happen in Goa". Are WE sure? how come then, the BJP/VHP 'yatra' originated from the all Goan Island of Divar to demand the apology from the Pope for the inquisition in Goa?? Remember??? Do WE realise that the perpetrator of the Gujarat experiment, Narendra Modi, is held very dear to heart and in the highest of esteem here in Goa by our communal political leaders? The lesser misplaced Goan sychophants who think they are in love with the "Lotus" of the BJP should take time off to dwell on this. They must remember that the devil comes in dazzling wraps. The box headline on Herald (9-Aug-03) "GUJARAT BJP SEEKS KALAM'S HELP" and the observance of the "NYAYPALIKA SANMAN DIVAS" (Save Judiciary Day) in the aftermath of setting free of all the 21 accused in the Best Bakery case goes to show the depth to which the communal poison has penetrated. If there was any judiciary left in Gujarat worth acknowledging, the world would have seen atleast a couple of token convictions. How brazen could one get??? If Kalam is called upon to save Gujarat's judiciary today, it would be because Kalam accepted the guided tour of the refugee camps which was more than organised for him by Modi without even raising an eyebrow. The saffronization process in Goa has been almost completed, thanks to Francisco Sardinha, Dr. Wilfred D'Souza and the likes of Miccky Secular Pacheco and Babush, of sex scandal fame, Monserrate and the esteemed Goan "two leaves" of the UGDP which have been transformed into the "lotus petals". The Congress in Goa under the new leadership of Luizinho Faleiro is the onliest last bastion of democracy and secularism left to make the deadly charge against the weak invading saffron army. But for it to be able to take up the sword, Congress must shed the traitors in waiting who are Francisco Sardinha, Dayanand Narvekar, Mauvin Godinho, Somnath Zuwarkar, Pratapsing Raoji Rane, Ramakant Khalap and the now, almost forgotten Subash Shirodkar. With these under the carpet, the Goa Congress will find its new strenght aided by every other secular outfit to decapitate the enemyonce and for all, which is growing more heads by day to spit fire of communalism and engulf, like in Gujarat, what has been saved and nurtured for centuries. The million dollar question is: Does Luizinho Faleiro burn with love for Goa and its values, enough, to sacrifice his once upon a time friends in arm? And if there are any doubts in his mind, he must re-run the video of the political the rise and fall of his dear ex commander in chief, Shri. Rajiv Gandhi. Afterall, does it matter to gain the whole world and lose the soul??? Go on Luizinho, we are fortified with your statement in the press when you boldly said "I WILL NOT BE COWED DOWN" We believe that you still have the inner strenght to taken on the enemy of Goa and Goans. VIVA GOA - Down with the Saffron Brigade. **** SORROWING LIES OUR GOA It is sad to see the fading face of Democracy and rise of Facism in Goa. If people do not realise the deceptions, and narrow down their perspective and judgements to superficial short term gains, this beautiful Goa, land of peace and harmony will be no more.................. The laboratory of Gujarat goes on today. It never ended though others who are not affected shun it aside. The time is come to contemplate that the demon is knocking at our door in our lovely peaceful State. ................. The chief Minister Mr. Manohar Parrikar, after the elections, stated that Goa has attained soft polarisation, which clearly shows the direction of his intent. However, the systematic and deliberate agenda of a government acting counter to its oath of office raises fundamental questions of its accountability and legitimacy...................... It has to be understood that the mainframe of democracy and freedom is a vibrant opposition whoever it may be. There have been many moments of despair in the past, but we goans have never before been made to feel so conclusively that they can have no faith in the State and its machinery. The open statement made by the Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Parrikar in a public forum, questioning the integrity of the Judiciary is a clear indicator of the depths of anarchy and facism that we are heading for. ...................... Communalism of any colour is unconstitutional, and anti-national, and its worldview runs counter to the principles we have set for ourselves. The hidden agendas must be exposed and fought openly on the political plane. For this we need a strong and healthy opposition. .................... ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
