Please also note that within the next few days you will be receiving the first of our Monthly updates on the BMX Reunion Celebrations. The monthly updates and future emails will have important information. Kindly take the time to read and respond to the emails as promptly as possible. Thanking you Joe D'Souza Dear friends and fellow BMXers On behalf of your organizing committee I wish to welcome you to this picnic which is our inaugural event, and a forerunner to a fun filled reunion package in 2004. >From the inception of this committee last December, we have been encouraged by fellow BMXers from all over the world to organize an event that will reunite past pupils of Britto's, Mary's and Xavier's in a manner that will rekindle that unparalleled camaraderie we shared in the past. Well folks! this is our first attempt at just 'that'. Your presence here today confirms that zeal we had anticipated and encourages us to continue working even harder to ensure that we have a very successful and fun filled reunion in July 2004 As of today we have exactly 383 days to the commencement of the week long events next year. In organizational terms - it is not really a long time, and we recognize that the challenges ahead are several, however with your continued interest and support I am confident that we will pull this through to make it a memorable reunion. I encourage you to register yourselves as members and inform other BMXers who aren't here today to register themselves soonest. This as you will realize is vital for several reasons. Please visit our website @ www.bmx2004.com periodically to keep abreast of developments as they unfold, and not forgetting to advise your other contacts of its contents. Before I proceed any further I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the very talented graphic designer, Fiona Pinto DeSouza on the fabulous art-work creation for our T-shirts that many of you are wearing and fellow BMXer Mario Pretto who printed it so well on a top quality fabric. We hope this T-shirt will serve you as a reminder to visit our website. I'd also like to thank Schuben Dias in a very special way for his brilliance, creativity and tireless efforts in maintaining this much talked about website. Thanks to Hyacinth D'Souza another BMXer for the photographs of our three institutions that have become the cornerstone of many a conversation. Todays event would not have been possible without the tremendous support from our sponsors, the majority of who are your fellow BMXers. We are deeply indebted to them for their kindness and generosity. I would also like to thank all our volunteers for their tireless efforts in making sure that our event is a success. For our Reunion celebrations I am pleased to inform you that we have received confirmation of attendance from BMXers currently in the UK, Middle East, the US, East Africa, Australia, China and Goa. My committee and I are committed to providing the highest level of hospitality and entertainment for this forthcoming Reunion, however to make it a resounding success that will bring us that pride we all strive for, we will need all the help we can get from you and your associates. The help we are soliciting is to subsidize the various events and could be financial (Sponsorships/donations), voluntary service, loan of material, hospitality (accommodation for our overseas BMXers) and whatever else will be necessary to pull this event through successfully. I am aware that among us we have many prominent , successful and enthusiastic BMXers with the ability to provide this support, I therefore urge you to come forward and let us know how you can help. I would also like to assure you that all fiscal matters will be fully accounted for. We are presently in the process of forming several sub-committees and I am aware that there are many talented BMXers in a position to help, I therefore take this opportunity to invite them to share their expertise with us. Please feel free to contact any committee member as soon as you possible can. Speaking of committee members, It is my greatest pleasure to introduce to you this great team of hard working, dedicated and self sacrificing individuals that I have the honor of being a part of. I would also like to introduce to you one of our energetic and dynamic US Co-ordinator, Christine Remedios, who has come all the way from Virginia to be with us to-day. For those of you who are not aware, Christine is the wife of the late Lino Remedios. Please join me in Welcoming Christine and her two sons Dean and Neil. I would also like you to envision the uniqueness of that group photograph that we will be taking during our reunion celebrations. Imagine the spectrum of ex-students ranging from the graduates of the late 50's through the late 80's and probably even younger, never in our wildest dreams would any one of us have dreamt of the possibility of meeting our fellow classmates after all these years. This is going to be an incredible Feat. ""Someone better contact the Guinness book of World Records"". Finally fellow BMXers I'd like to remind you all once again that we will need all the help we can get to showcase the BMX TORONTO 2004 in a manner that demonstrates to our fellow BMXers around the world the 'Great Hosts we Torontonians are".
