This is fundamentally an economic issue. If one cannot provide them with alternate economic/employment options which would enable them to better feed their families, then forget about it. If my mother was a prostitute, I would still respect her and would infact admire her courage and determination to raise me properly. Demeaning the profession of a prostitute is no different from putting down say, a laborer. Every profession and every person needs to be respected, because it could easily have been one of us doing that job.
