Internationally renowned Organic farming expert from Karnataka,
'Krishipandit', Dr. Varanashi Krishnamoorthy to deliver lecture at Goa
University On October 15

The Department of Botany, Goa University has organized a public lecture by
Dr. Varanashi Krishnamoorthy, from Varanashi Research foundation, Adyanadka,
Dakshin Kannada district, Karnataka, On Wednesday, October 15, 2003 , at
3.30 PM at the Conference hall, Administrative building, Taleigao, Goa. He
would speak on 'Organic farming and sustainable agriculture, Success story
of Varanashi farm'. It would be beneficial to farmers, horticulturists,
gardners, landscape developers, managers of plant nurseries, small orchard
owners and users of biofertilizers. Members of the public are requested to
attend.

Dr. Krishnammorthy is recipient of the 'Krishipandit' award by the
government of Karnataka for his model organic farm.The International
federation of Organic agricultural movement (IFOAM) has recognized Varanashi
farms as a model Organic farm during 2002.

Dr.Varanashi has developed a special method of composting which produces
20,000 MT of organic compost annually. He has developed several indigenous
organic farm products like Composter, Bio-mix, Bio-compost, Phospho compost,
Bio-spray besides low cost techniques for rainwater harvesting and solid
agro-waste management.

Dr. Varanashi to brief the press at GUJ office:-

Dr. Varanashi would also be briefing the presspersons, On 15 the October at
11 a.m. under the aegis of Goa Union of Journalists, at GUJ office, Shrama
Shakti Bhavan, Pato, Panaji about his experience in organic farming. GUJ
