Dear Netters, The value of a well made point is often lost when the writer wants to remain anonymous. The 'Solitary Goan' should put a name to himself,if s/he does not have one already! If one lacks courage, one should neither talk nor post on the net. What is the point?
For those who would like to do something at Pissurlem [near Sanquelim and Onda/Honda,in Sattari taluka of Goa],please contact [EMAIL PROTECTED] with your offers. Shirin is a Research Associate for TERI [The Energy Research Institute, formerly TATA ERI] with which Ligia Noronha has long been associated. TERI is the 'PIA'[ not 'Pain in the Anatomy' but 'Programme Implementation Agency'] for watershed development in Pissurlem under a Govt.of India scheme implemented through the Directorate of Agriculture,Panaji-Goa. The scheme has an assistance of just Rs.5000/- per household over a period of 5 years or an average of Rs.1000/-[US$20] per year. One could contribute to the training and common infrastructure by contributions in cash to the joint account of the project. Any takers? How much would Togetherforgoa contribute to the project account at the Pissurlem watershed?? Shirin's,Directorate of Agriculture[Goa] and my email IDs are known to all of you now. We are waiting for your contribution[in cash, not postings!]. I am all ears. For those who would like to contribute closer to their homes, there are watersheds [both under NWDPA and Western Ghat Scheme] in Bicholim, Pernem, Bardez, Tiswadi, Ponda, Sanguem, Salcet, Quepem and Canacona. You can choose your beneficiary. The Zonal Agriculture Officer of each taluka will be only too happy to introduce you to the village leaders under the project. The process is democratic and transparent. You could even fund an activity through NSS volunteers from colleges during October and April vacations. Next vacations begin 19 October. Viva Goa.
