The State government, is holding a 3-day convention titled 'Gomant Vishwa Sammelan' under the aegis of NRI-Goa Facilitation Centre at Kala Academy, from January 3 to 5, 2004 and is expected to draw participation from the people of Goan origin settled in various parts of India and overseas.
Dinar Bhatkar convenor of the Sammelan said the aim of the convention is to essentially strengthen the cultural roots of people of Goa origin and to facilitate their direct or indirect participation in ongoing development of Goa in fields of their own chosen interest while removing their apprehension about their alienation.
The proposed convention will have dedicated technical sessions on various core sectors/thrust areas for which the state's planning commission has developed a draft vision. The major task to be achieved through these technical sessions would be to deliberate the validity as also ways and means of achieving the mission of creating and sustaining a vibrant, peaceful and prosperous Goa.
