Hi Cecil, I was fortunate to have acted in Goa's 'Shakespeare' Bab Rosario Rodrigues' non-stop tiatr in the late 70s. There were days I have spent with him and his joint family and even stayed overnight when the shows were held in far South of Goa and it was difficult to travel back to Mapusa at the mid-night. (Mind you, I was one of the rear from Bardez who acted in the 'khel' those days.) Talking about WIGS, Rosario too always wore a wig on stage as well as in daily life. Once I even inquired with him whether he was bald to what he replied negative. That made me more curious, "than why are you wearing the wigs?" At this question hr told me that for one of his earlier plays he had to shave his head for the the performance, and by shaving it several times as the the dates of the show, the growth was less. But this I could not digest. Although I spent nights at his home, I never got to see under his wig.
Alfred Rose without wig neither a hat nor any headgear can be seen in one of the old Konkani Films. It could be "Amchem Noxib" merrily dancing and singing a song.
