Fernandes and co-accused Avelino Pinto had been arrested on the complaint of having sexually abused a child of 13 years.
They had been charged with offences punishable under Section 376, 354 and Section 8 (2) of the Goa Children's Act 2003.This is the second bail application filed by Fernandes. The first had been dismissed by the same court on October 22.
While granting bail to Fernandes, the Assistant Sessions Judge took into account the fact that the investigation in the case with regards to the present accused is nearly over. She also observed that, there was nothing before her suggesting that the accused had a past criminal record.
She released him on bail on his executing a bail bond of Rs 15,000 with one surety in the like amount on the condition that, he did not interfere with the victim or the witnesses.
