TIBET DAY AT ST. XAVIER'S COLLEGE

St. Xavier's College, Mapusa, is celebrating the Ruby Jubilee of its existence this year. To commemorate the event, the College has been organizing several academic and cultural activities right through the Jubilee year with special focus on minority groups, such as, Portuguese students, French students, with a Portuguese Day and French Day.

In recent years, our College has been admitting Tibetan students and we now have a sizable group. So we, dedicate a day to Tibetan Culture and its people. Tibet known as the 'Roof of the World', nestled in the mighty Himalayas is a land inhabited by a people who have developed a unique and rich culture and spiritual traditions, a distinct language and a large body of literature and exquisite works of art.

In order to provide awareness about Tibet, a "Tibet Day" will be organized in the College on 10th January, 2004, at 12 noon. It will include an exhibition of Tibetan Artefacts, Books, Music, Costumes. The Tibetan students will speak on Tibetan issues and will present a Cultural Programme including Tibetan music and dance. Besides, there will be a food stall serving authentic Tibetan food.

Members of the public, including Tibetans are invited to attend the programme and encourage our Tibetan students.
