FONTAINHAS FESTIVAL OF ARTS 2004: The week-long Fontainhas Festival of the Arts 2004, organised by the Goa Heritage Action Group, was inaugurated at the Phoenix Fountain, Panjim, by the Power Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat, on January 10. The highlight of the festival is the opening up of several houses in the Fontainhas-Mala area, for various artists to display their works. The inaugural function was followed by "Dances of India" and performance by "Just Jazz". (WE-GT) GODDESS SHANTADURGA TO VISIT MAPUSA: History will be created today at Mapusa when the idol of the most revered Hindu deity, Goddess Shantadurga, will be brought on a week-long visit from Shantadurga temple at Dhargalim to the Mapusa city. Originally installed at Tarivadda, Mapusa, somewhere in the 16th century, it was shifted to various places like Sanquelim, Assonora, Chapora and Dhargalim which has now become its permanent abode.
