Postal employees (who sort the mail) are trained to read variations in name spelling, as they are trained to read different scripts.

We should not let our colourful diversity be ruined by name standardization, just to ease the lot of postal employees. Besides, in India, the postal employees have much bigger problems than variations in how a place name is spelt.
