Santosh asked:

The real question is whether these same students would not have scored at the
97th percentile if their parents had sent them to a good public school, and had
the same level of commitment towards their child's education, but in aftershool
hours. Apples can always be compared to oranges to get good numbers, but what
good are those numbers?

Dan replies:

Or mabye they might have scored at the 60th percentile if they went to public
school :) The point of the statistic is to show that homeschooled students
perform better (academically) than the average public school student thus
blowing away the assertion often made that homeschooling parents are not as well
qualified as the "trained teachers" in teaching their children.

Regards,

Dan
