ST. XAVIER'S TRIUMPH AT ENGLISH LITERARY FESTIVAL

St. Xavier's College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Mapusa, emerged 
Champions at the one-day English Literary Festival organized by the 
literary club at the Department of English at the Goa University, on 
11th March, 2004, and was awarded "The English Literary Festival Rolling 
Trophy".

The first of its kind to be organized in the history of the Department 
of English at the Goa University, the festival provided a forum for the 
English students of the College to interact with those of the University.

The students of St. Xavier's swept away the prizes for the various 
events.  The prize for the English Literary Quiz was bagged by Mr. Aaron 
Paul Fernandes and Ms. Alison Lobo.  Ms. Blessy Thomas and Ms. Roxanne 
Pinto secured the first and second place for the Crossword.  The prizes 
for 'Just-a-Minute' were won by Mr. Joel Saldanha and Ms. Valencia 
Mascarenhas respectively, while Mr. Felly Gomes was adjudged the winner 
at the Talent Show.  The second prize for the debate 'Is Valentines Day 
Commercialized by the Market Forces and the Media', went to Ms. Shweta 
Ranade, while Ms. Liezel Noronha bagged the second place for poetry writing.
