May I ask: is the veracity of historical events judged by "statistical data". When Dr Lawrence asks for the same, what exactly does he mean? Number of victims of the Inquisition? Records of individuals who faced it, would this do? In any case, the motives for starting and continuing the Inquisition would not be reflected in any statistical data that I can think of. Isn't it time we just dropped this thread, and instead came to grips with history?
