Dear Joe,

Yes , I was in MES College Vasco, from June 1978 to May 1983. However, I
am sorry, I have not placed you. Please jog my memory a bit .

Kabir was neither a Hindu nor a Muslim. He was a self-proclaimed humanist
not fitting himself into the mould of either of the two religions. It is
said that when he expired, his followers fought to either bury or cremate
him, depending on which religion they came from.

Shirdi Sai Baba also espoused similar syncretic thoughts derived from
Hinduism and Islam .

Satya Sai Baba also espouses syncretic teachings based on Hinduism, Islam,
Christianity, Sikhism, etc. The logo of all institutions run under his
auspices is having representations of different religions.

I feel it is important to identify more such "Indian " revered persons who
did not identify themselves as " Hindu" or "Muslim".

Regards,
Thalmann Pradeep Pereira,
Vasco-da-Gama, Goa.
