Senhor Bernado,

Inspite of Senhor Frederico's *irresistible* fondness to
take a dig at you :-) let's not forget that even pre-1961
Goan cabbies (forget well-heeled Goans like you and
Frederick) drove Mercs as yellow-black taxis!!

(I'm sure Goan cabbies were modest, unlike the last Nizam
of Hyderabad, who used a whole fleet of Rolls Royce's to
cart mud n cowdung in his sprawling palace grounds.)

Bullock-driven carts could more be caught sight of on Goan
roads in the post-Bharati era, with or without carts ... !!
Not to be mixed with the proverbial *cart before horse.*
I'm sure you've seen umpteen CIA's satellite shots showing
bullocks on Goan roads (without carts) after the brainless
Bharatis overran Goa.

Pre-'61, Goans who couldn't afford private cars or the
Impalas and Merc-Benz taxicabs, rode in *machilas*
powered by (who else?) Bharati *bhois*

Viva/Valmiki
