Any Goan Connection or just the name?...Eddie Verdes/KSA GOA 2004 * * * http://web.mid-day.com/entertainment/otherimusicreview/2004/april/80509.htm Artistes: Various
Label and genre: Worldwide Records, trance/ dance Price: Cassettes Rs 100, CDs Rs 295 Here's a pretty decent compilation for trance buffs. Though some tracks on Goa 2004 may sound monotonous on the home stereo, they are perfect for a pub or party setting. The compilation begins with The Finger, played by Younger Brother, comprising Benji Vaughan and Simon Ponsford. It builds up slowly, but contains some nice melodies and rhythms, with Hindi and Punjabi chants thrown in. Nada Karma’s Chandra uses south Indian vocal elements, but Israeli producer Yahel’s For The People is routine trance. Shivasidpao is represented by three tracks, and is amazing on Power Of Celtic, which uses exotic Celtic and Middle Eastern melodies with interesting tempo changes. India Spirit is predictable, whereas Shiva Devotional uses Shiva mantras. Finally, Shpongle, comprising Ponsford and Raja Ram, has two tracks from its Tales From The Inexpressible album. While Dorset Perception is psychedelic trance with a flamenco flavour, Star Shpongled Banner blends world music and Indian classical elements with trance, trance-lating into neat stuff.
