Shantaram Pednekar the barber runs his saloon in Panjim. One day an Aldonkar (from Aldona), who has a flower shop in Panjim, walks in for a haircut

After the cut, he goes to pay Shantaram and the barber replies, "I am sorry. I cannot accept money from you. I am doing community service this week."

The Aldonkar is happy and leaves the shop.

The next morning when Shantaram goes to open his shop, there is a Thank You card and a dozen long stemmed roses in a beautiful ceramic vase waiting at his door.


Next day a Calafurkar tiatrist (from Santa Cruz) comes for a haircut and he also goes to pay the barber after the cut. But Shantaram replies," I am sorry. I cannot accept money from you. This week I am doing community service"


The Calafurkar is happy and leaves the shop. The next morning Shantaram's barber goes to open his shop, there is a Thank You card and five First Class passes for the latest Prince Jacob tiatr at Kala Academy waiting at his door.


A tarvotti (shipee) from St. Estevam (Juemkar) goes for a haircut and he also goes to pay Shantaram after the cut. But Shantaram says, "I am sorry. I cannot accept money from you. I am doing community service this week."


The Juemkar tarvotti is happy and leaves.

The next morning when Shantaram goes to open his shop, guess what he finds there...
