Shantaram Pednekar the barber runs his saloon in Panjim. One day an
Aldonkar (from Aldona), who has a flower shop in Panjim, walks in for a
haircut
After the cut, he goes to pay Shantaram and the barber replies, "I am
sorry. I cannot accept money from you. I am doing community service this week."
The Aldonkar is happy and leaves the shop.
The next morning when Shantaram goes to open his shop, there is a Thank You
card and a dozen long stemmed roses in a beautiful ceramic vase waiting at
his door.
Next day a Calafurkar tiatrist (from Santa Cruz) comes for a haircut and he
also goes to pay the barber after the cut. But Shantaram replies," I am
sorry. I cannot accept money from you. This week I am doing community service"
The Calafurkar is happy and leaves the shop. The next morning Shantaram's
barber goes to open his shop, there is a Thank You card and five First
Class passes for the latest Prince Jacob tiatr at Kala Academy waiting at
his door.
A tarvotti (shipee) from St. Estevam (Juemkar) goes for a haircut and he
also goes to pay Shantaram after the cut. But Shantaram says, "I am sorry.
I cannot accept money from you. I am doing community service this week."
The Juemkar tarvotti is happy and leaves.
The next morning when Shantaram goes to open his shop, guess what he finds
there...
A dozen Juemkars waiting for a haircut........
