True, few gave it a thought when nefarious activites were undertaken in the premises.
One should note a person gets more attention when h/she is critically ill then one's got influenza.
Neglection and Nefarious activities should result in Destroying, well if one follows this precept
Many old structures should be destroyed (Elephanta Caves GateWay of India....
I am sure if Football matches have ceased to exist and traffic is a major cause for concern,
converting Campal into a Parking lot is certainly not a bright idea.
Stadiums being torn down in the WEST. are we talking of Wembley. What about Maracana in Brazil how old is it. Wembley was brought down only to build a much bigger and modern Stadium.
Getting political...one incident ok fine.
A majority of unpopular decissions which are close to the hearts of the MINORITIES give such
issues a political touch.
I still belilve Mr. Parikar an IIT Grad. can take Goa to places if he really wants too.
Not like some politicians who devote time and effort to indulge in ISSUES like
NAME CHANGING TEMPLE MASJID CHURCH CONVERSIONS and host of non productive issues which only takes us BACKWARD.
Lastly i agree with Mr. Patkar finally the PANJIMITES should decide the fate of their beloved CAMPAL.

Where were all the people for the past decade or so, when this ground was in a state of decay?
Ever since the Fatorda stadium was built everybody neglected Campal stadium, everybody turned
a blind eye at the nefarious activities going on in and around the stadium. The neglect and decay of
the stadium is there for everyone to see!
As a Campal resident myself, I think that with the amount of traffic that a game would generate,
holding of any football game there is a potential for major gridlock. We have lived in Campal through
the nightmares of major congestions, when there were scooters and buses. Now with almost every
2nd Goan owning a car, I shudder to think of a football game being held there. GFA neglected the
stadium for too long, after Fatorda became its cash-cow. I think the Campal stadium has outlived
its utility.
One cannot get sentimental about such things. We try to emulate the west in a lot of
ways. In the west, huge stadiums are torn down, once it is determined that they have outlived
their purpose.
Let us not get political here. I think one needs to get the opinions of people of Panaji and more
particular people living in Campal.

Its indeed a shame one of the most remarkable landmarks in Goa is being sacrificed for the sake of IFFI.
No doubt its a matter of great pride to hold this event annually. But at what cost !!!
Campal grounds have bred considerable number of FOOTBALLERS who made the STATE
as well as the Country proud.
Sports is seen as an excellent avenue to chanelize ones energy into something fruitfull
and worthy but not anymore , parking lots departmental stores cinema halls these
conumerist structures are taking precedence in its place.
Mr. Parikar an IIT BOMBAY. graduate stooping so low is a disgrace.
I am SURE if sanity prevails and the pros and cons are laid, any RATIONAL human would
oppose the demolition of this wonderful LANDMARK.
Guess all work and no play has made Mr. CM an anti sports guy.
I hope and pray he realises his folly and GIFT the PANJIMITES a renovated sophisticated
OLYMPIC stadium.
I think we should alll pray the rosary for our CM which would help him to make the
RIGHT discissons in the interest of GOA and the GOANS.
AMEN.
