I have not yet seen the movie, but I have read a lot of reports and seen some pics of this movie.
Firstly is Mr. Shiva, a Christian?..I doubt he is, but I believe every Christian will be able to understand this movie even if its in Aramaic. The movie is based on the last 24 hours of Christ's life. "The Passion of Christ" "Is this a review of the film or is he trying to say something else...What has "Christian America' got to do with this film? Was it because it was shot in USA? What would he say if it was shot in India? Religious Conversions!!! As for the violence in the film let me quote from Fr. Sean of Legionaries of Christ: "The violence you see Jim Caviezel endures as Jesus is really a reflection of the violence that sin does to our souls. Violence is the effect of sin on our souls. It destroys and disfigures us. It maims us. It makes us look inhuman, ugly and hideous before the Father. The violence also represents the price of our redemption. Since Jesus took on our sin, He was made sin for us according to St. Paul, He took on the punishment of that sin. ["For our sake he made him to be sin who did not know sin, so that we might become the righteousness of God in him." 2 Corinthians 5:21] This is the purpose of the violence in the film, to get people to realize the price that is paid by the body of Christ when people commit sin and the price paid by the Savior to set us free. " The movie may win a few oscars, but I am sure it has touched a thousand hearts and brought them closer to Christ.
