Gilbert Lawrence: I would like to take this opportunity to invite Helga or any resident of Goa (Are Goan writers and padres reading?) to write an assay on "Goan Christian culture without faith". Look forward to reading it.
Helga do Rosario Gomes: Can I write about Sulfur reducing bacteria instead? They are more fun! Gilbert Lawrence: Chicken! :=)) If it is OK, we can open it up to Khoro Niz Goenkars in Middle East. I am sure Almeidaji has something to say on this subject. How about encouraging all those Goenkars who wear their 'Non-Practicing Goan Catholics' label as a 'badge of honor'? At least three of them have self-identified themselves on the net. These are very articulate Goans. This is however not a topic on an individual but on the 'new' Goan culture. C'mon defenders of 'Goan way of life'. :=)) I would encourage you (and others) to reconsider your hesitancy. I know it may not be pleasant. I have been there. :=)) However if articulate individuals, like you, are not willing to step to the plate, we cannot complain later that the Goan Catholic culture / identity is 'splitting at the seams'. As usual then, we will blame the bhaile and the gorrment instead of pointing the fingers at our own intellectuals for their default.
