Was trawling some Usenet newsgroups, such as rec.radio.shortwave -- see http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&group=rec.radio.shortwave -- and got a pleasant surprise to find that broadcasts via Goa were being reported far and wide.

Apparently, a 15-minute English language programme is going out at 1530 UTC/GMT on 11740.

Dan Robinson lamented that while we're seeing the end of the shortwave listening era overall, there "have always been surprises -- the improved audibility of Bhutan, new stations like Goa, and the various Pacific island broadcasters (usually via religious organizations) providing new opportunities (for shortwave radio listeners)".

Steve reported hearing the Goa transmissions in Holland, MI. Is that Michigan? Can any Goanetter hear it out there?

And this is something "Bernado" is really going to love. Radio listener enthusiasts, keen to log as many different radio stations as possible, are also complaining that the old-timers have the odds in their favour. At that time, Goa issued separate radio listener verification reports. That's simply not available any more to those below the age of 50! FN
